Ventris Learning, in collaboration with university clinics and practicing speech-language pathologists, is engaged in a multi-year project to update the Assessment of Language & Literacy (ALL), a standardized measure of both language ability and foundational reading skills. The revised ALL is scheduled to be released in late 2026. Updates will include:

  • New grade-based norms for Pre-Kindergarten through 1st Grade
  • New age-based norms for 4:0–6:11

  • Four additional foundational literacy sub-tests subtests, including blending, word reading, nonsense word reading, and emergent writing.

  • Scoring based on Item Response Theory, as opposed to Classical Test Theory (the original test norming method).

  • New measures of reliability and validity to strengthen diagnostic accuracy.

  • A new parent/caregiver interview questionnaire to gather relevant information on a child’s history and English-language exposure.

  • Enhanced user-friendliness of testing materials and improved examiner directions based on useful feedback from clinicians and reviewers.

  • An online scoring tool to save time and provide comprehensive diagnostic insights useful for goal-setting and intervention.

The resulting next generation ALL test will be even more useful to SLPs in accurately identifying language and reading literacy disorders/delays in children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 1st .
